Everyone Wants a Miracle

DAY 4 OF 5

Miracles and Mission

Drs. T. L. and Daisy Osborn, my mother and father, both accepted Christ at early ages and plunged into full-time Christian ministry as newlyweds. They were sincere in their faith, loyal in their associations, and zealous in their ministries. Yet when they faced the many needs of the deeply religious people of India, they floundered. They found it difficult to respond to the probing questions of people of other faiths.

When traditional doctrines were ineffective, zealous actions failed, human compassion was insufficient, and other options were exposed as powerless, my parents discovered the miracle power of the resurrected Christ. Everything changed! Now, after more than six decades of global ministry, miracles remain a pivotal reality in their Christian faith.

My eldest son, Tommy O’Dell, along with his wife Elisabeth and their children, represent the next two generations of this family. Tommy’s own story of conversion is a miracle story. His supernatural encounter with Jesus is proof that when human effort reaches its limit, the power of Christ continues and accomplishes God’s beautiful plan of rescue.

Tommy and Elisabeth have carried the gospel to over seventy nations. Millions of souls have been saved in their evangelistic meetings. Remarkable physical healings and other supernatural acts of our loving Lord have consistently confirmed their ministry.

It was Tommy who suggested that the book this devotional series is based upon be reprinted for this generation. He wrote, “Within a few months of my conversion, I happened upon Miracles, a little book in my grandmother’s study. I began reading it aloud to myself. By the time I had finished the book, I was engulfed in the presence of God. I could no longer contain what felt like streams of electricity coursing through my body. Later, I was astonished at this supernatural experience. Since then, I have been privileged to carry this miracle gospel to many people throughout our hurting world.”

Our entire family—starting with my parents, continuing through me, extended to my children, and now including my grandchildren—shares this mission of spreading the gospel. Join us in sowing the seeds of truth throughout our world.

Lord, You gave vision to the blind, healed the sick, cast out demons, multiplied resources, and did many more miracles. Give me the courage to proclaim Your infinite love and power are still available to us today.
