Daily Bible Reading— August 2024, God’s Guiding Word: Faithنموونە
August 25
Introduction
1 Samuel 3:1–21: As a boy, Samuel served the LORD in Shiloh by helping Eli the priest. One night he heard the voice of the LORD calling him, and Samuel received a message from the LORD. When Samuel grew up, he became a prophet of the LORD.
Today’s Key Verse: 1 Samuel 3:10b
Samuel answered, “Speak; your servant is listening.”
Reflect
After Samuel heard the LORD call out to him the third time, Eli realized that the voice Samuel heard was that of the LORD. What did Eli tell Samuel to say? What was the LORD’s message to Samuel (verses 11–14)? (See 1 Samuel 2:12–17, 22–36 for an account of the sins committed by Eli’s sons.) The chapter concludes by stating that “the LORD continued to reveal himself at Shiloh.” In what ways is God revealed to you?
Pray
Lord God, open my heart to hear your voice and to discern your will. Teach me to listen and to be guided in the way of your truth. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
