The Fruit of Hope: Discovering Hope in the Fruits of the Spiritنموونە
We’re into the fleshy part of the fruit of the Spirit, the ones where things start to get a little more difficult to live out in our everyday lives, and today’s fruit is definitely along those lines. It’s time to talk about faithfulness.
For starters, search the scriptures for the word faithfulness and mostly what you’ll find are descriptions of God being faithful toward us. We can only be faithful in any direction because God was first faithful in our direction.
Take Hebrews 10 as a perfect example, where we read: “Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23, NRSV)
You gain the strength to be faithful by remembering God’s promise to you to demonstrate his own faithfulness. Sounds a lot like hope, doesn’t it?
Hope is the steadying force behind your faithfulness, the solid ground upon which you can base your confidence. You can hold fast to what you know of God’s promises because hope gives you the grip.
How will you hold fast with hope today?
