Reading With the People of God - #4 Comfort

DAY 23 OF 31

Living for Christ

"...makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him."

Because we belong to Christ and are assured of eternal life, we are called to live for Him wholeheartedly. This calling is not a burdensome duty but a joyful response to His love and grace. "And he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised" (2 Corinthians 5:15).

Living for Christ means prioritizing His will and purposes above our own. It involves daily surrender, obedience, and a desire to honor Him in all we do. This wholehearted devotion is fueled by our love for Jesus and our gratitude for His sacrifice.

Reflect on what it means to live wholeheartedly for Christ. In what areas of your life do you need to align more closely with His will? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of compromise or self-centeredness and to help you live fully for Him.

Spend time in prayer, asking God to give you a heart that is wholeheartedly willing and ready to live for Him. Commit to seeking His will in all aspects of your life and to honoring Him in your thoughts, words, and actions. Rejoice in the privilege of living for Christ and let this devotion shape your daily walk.

Today's prayer of illumination:

Father, thank You for the privilege of living for Christ each day. Help me to take up my cross daily and to follow Him with all my heart. Teach me to seek Your will in all that I do and to live in a way that honors You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Memorization Challenge of the Month:

Heidelberg Catechism Q&A 1

Q1. What is your only comfort in life and in death?

A1. That I am not my own, but belong— body and soul, in life and in death— to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.
He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.
Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.
