Reading With the People of God - #4 Comfort

DAY 11 OF 31

Living Out Our Belonging

"That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ."

Living out our belonging to Jesus means aligning every part of our lives with His will. This includes our thoughts, actions, relationships, and goals. Colossians 3:17 encourages us, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

As we acknowledge that we belong to Jesus, we are called to live for His glory. This involves daily surrender, seeking His guidance, and allowing His love to flow through us to others.

Reflect on how you can live out your belonging to Jesus in practical ways. What changes do you need to make to align more closely with His will?

Spend time in prayer, asking God for the strength and wisdom to live for Him wholeheartedly. Commit to making choices that honor your faithful Savior and reflect your belonging to Him. Rejoice in the privilege of being His and let this truth shape every aspect of your life.

Today's prayer of illumination:

Heavenly Father, open our hearts to understand what it means to truly belong to Jesus. Guide us to align our thoughts, actions, and lives with Your will. Grant us the strength and wisdom to live for Your glory, reflecting our belonging to our faithful Savior in all we do. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Memorization Challenge of the Month:

Heidelberg Catechism Q&A 1

Q1. What is your only comfort in life and in death?

A1. That I am not my own, but belong— body and soul, in life and in death— to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.
He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.
Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.
