Purposeful Gratitude: The Heart of Outreach

DAY 5 OF 7

Day 5: Clothe With Dignity

God is a restorer. He has and still does go to great lengths to restore His children. In today’s passages, you’ll see examples of how God uses clothing to demonstrate restoring relationships, standing, and dignity to people.

Just the thought of the God of the universe clothing us is unimaginable. It’s so humbling to know He thinks of us so intimately. But then the circumstances take it a step further because God restores broken things. After Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, God clothed them. It wasn’t because they deserved it; it was because He loved them.

When we see God clothing people in the Bible, it’s luxurious and done with care. When we’re in need, He doesn’t do the minimum. He sends the very best.

How would you clothe a person loved and known by God?

Donation sites are plentiful. You may even be accustomed to dropping off a bag of unwanted clothing now and then, and that’s a good thing to do. But as we’ve been exploring, there’s a heart behind this particular need that connects to the heart of God. He’s personal and specific.

Our faith compels us to go beyond recognizing a need and step into the ownership and action of meeting it in a way that restores dignity to the person we are serving. Instead of giving away what you don’t want, what would it look like to give the very best, to give someone exactly what they need but could never hope to ask for? That’s what God does for us.

About this Plan

Purposeful Gratitude: The Heart of Outreach

Most of us know outreach is important, but life is busy, and it’s hard to even know where to start. It doesn’t have to be complicated. This devotional will help you reconnect to God’s heart for His people. When we take time to reflect on all God has done for us, we begin to see others like He does, and compassion is a natural response.
