The Kids' Guide to Heaven and the New Earthنموونە

What will we do on the New Earth? Worship Jesus for eternity! And while that will certainly include singing Him worship songs (see Isaiah 51:11), we will do way more than just sing and play instruments on the New Earth.

Revelation 22:5 says that we will “reign for ever and ever” with King Jesus! As I say in my picture book, The Royal in You:

Jesus wants you to rule with Him—
to explore and fill the kingdom of heaven with Him.
God says He won’t rule this world all on His own,
He’ll send princes and princesses out from His throne.

What will Jesus send us out to do? What exactly does it mean that we will “reign” as His princes and princesses? In part, it means that we will work with King Jesus forever!

God puts it this way in Isaiah 65: “[My people] will build houses…plant vineyards and…long enjoy the work of their hands.”

This is not work that is boring. It is the most exciting and fun work you can imagine—creating and building things as a way of showing Jesus just how much we love him!

Here’s how I imagined the reigning and working you and I might do on the New Earth in The Royal in You:

Maybe you’ll explore galaxies far, far away
and marvel at what God once made in a day.
Or create a new sport with no need to worry
about getting hurt or needing to hurry.

Tomorrow we’ll see what the Bible says about you working with and riding on the backs of wild animals! But for now, talk through these questions with a grownup:

• What jobs would you love for Jesus to give you on the New Earth?
• What’s something you want to try on the New Earth knowing there will be no more death or pain?
• What instrument would you love to learn how to play on the New Earth?
