Agreement – A Warfare Weapon

“Again, I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 18:19

God wants us to be in agreement in our prayers. Agreement unlocks answers to prayer. Agreement is the criteria for praying together. Our prayers become powerful when we are in agreement. God sees the oneness and answers our prayer according to His will and purpose.

The moment husband and wife agree on something and take it to God in prayer, Satan loses his foothold and his power over the matter. He will quit. When husband and wife agree, Satan will lose his control and authority. When husband and wife agree and pray about something in accordance with God's will, there is a power explosion—and God’s will will be established as it is in heaven. Therefore, agreement is a spiritual warfare weapon that husband and wife can use to win battles.

The more we become conscious about our need to agree, the more it becomes a way of life. People think we need agreement before we start praying together – but in reality, praying together causes us to be in agreement. Agreement to pray together as a family will bring about a bonding and a sense of responsibility to pray along for the needs of the family.

We see examples in the Bible: Noah’s wife agreed with what Noah said about the rain and the ark. When Noah’s wife agrees, we also find that their three sons and their wives agree. The entire family was saved, while the rest of humanity perished in the great flood. Jesus at the garden of Gethsemane wanted His disciples to agree with Him in prayer - “So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour?” Matthew 26:40. Aaron and Hur agreed with Moses, held his hands up, and saw the battle being won by Joshua (Exodus 17:12–14).

God could sometimes just speak to the wife or the husband; when one is confident about the spouse’s walk with God, he or she should be quick to agree and see God's blessings.

Agreement on a daily basis will soon equip us to engage in spiritual warfare to defeat the enemy who constantly tries to destroy the marriage and family.

May God enable us as couples and households to win every battle the enemy brings through the prayer of agreement.

Prayer: Dear Father, help us to agree to pray together. May we experience the power of agreement in prayer. Bless us with the Spirit of Oneness in Jesus’ name. Amen.
