Devotions to Conquer Anxiety and Depressionنموونە

Can’t You Hear Him Whisper?
Our society is so fast paced that there is little time to take care of our mental and physical health, let alone our spiritual health. We are beings created for eternity, and we are made in the image of a supernatural God, and yet paying attention to our spiritual journey gets put off and off and off. Until something terrible happens. Like a financial crisis. Or infidelity in our marriage. Or bad news at the doctor’s office. Or a death in the family. Then we do far more than pause. We go into a full-body panic mode, drenched in fear, racing around, grasping at anything and everything, desperate for answers. For peace. But had we been in close fellowship with the Lord all along, we wouldn’t be so frantic, our spirits so riddled with terror. What we need to do is to be still and know that He is God. Know that He is still in control, even though we think the bad news is in control. It’s not. God is. Life would be more peaceful, more focused, more infused with joy, if we were already in the midst of communion with God when troubles come. Can’t you hear Him whisper to you, “Be still, and know that I am God”?
Prayer: Lord, help me to want to spend time with You every day of my life—in fair weather as well as stormy. Amen.
