Being Boldنموونە
An 'even if' boldness
The words of these young Hebrew men are, in my mind, the epitome of boldness. They were confident that the God they served had the power to protect them from the flames designed to incinerate them. But in the event that God’s wisdom and plan did not involve miraculous, supernatural protection from those flames, they wanted to be clear about their trust in an omnipotent, omniscient God, and their complete surrender to His will for their lives.
They were steadfast. They were resilient. They were bold. They defied the authority of the kingdom they were in, because it went against the laws of the kingdom they had eternal citizenship in. And they trusted that king completely, knowing He was, is, and forever will be, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. God showed Himself strong that day. Through their boldness He was able to show His supernatural power to defy earthly principals and protect those who trust Him.
When was the last time you trusted in the word and promise of God over the culture and standards of the world? When is the last time you boldly declared your unwavering belief in who God is, and what He can do and, even if He didn’t, your commitment to living for Him remained the same?
May we all have this measure of boldness and confidence in the living God we know and love.
