Pain & Suffering

DAY 7 OF 7

A certain hope

‘If God is so good, why does He allow pain and suffering?’

That’s a question I’ve heard often, and one that many people have wrestled with. It can be hard to accept that God is a good, loving God when we hear about children getting sick or hurt, or we hear about good, godly people suffering, or we watch wars happening around the world. We look at God and we want Him to stop the pain and suffering and to put an end to evil.

The sad truth is that we live in a world that is broken. We live in an age where right and wrong are blurred and righteousness is not a requirement. But there is still hope. Revelation tells us that a day is coming where there will be no more pain and suffering. There will be no more evil and no more tears. God’s Word tells us that Jesus is coming back to judge the earth and right the wrongs, and that is what we hold fast to. We hold onto the hope we have in Jesus.

I wholeheartedly believe that God is grieved by the evil and pain in the world and that it won’t go unpunished. But, in the meantime, we share His love and grace with others and point as many people as we can to Jesus. We pray for the hurting and vulnerable, and we believe for miracles in the name of Jesus.

And may we cling to Jesus to get us through in a broken world.
