Growing in the Knowledge of God

DAY 7 OF 7

Spiritual Sowing

“The one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” (Galatians 6:8)

At first glance, sowing appears to be a futile endeavor; we bury good seeds in the earth, seemingly never to witness their growth. Similarly, sowing to the Spirit may seem abstract and impractical, involving self-denial with no apparent gain. However, when we sow to the Spirit by striving to live according to God's will, seeking to honor Him in all we do, and dedicating ourselves to His service, our efforts are not in vain. The reward is life itself, both in the present as we experience the richness of knowing, communing with, and delighting in God, and in the future, as this life leads us towards an eternal ocean of joy where we will forever dwell in the fullness of God's life.

Let us resist the temptation to sow to our flesh, for the harvest of such sowing yields decay, as flesh naturally inclines towards corruption. Instead, let us exercise self-discipline, dedicating ourselves to the loftiest, purest, and most spiritual goals, seeking to honor our holy Lord by obeying His gracious Spirit. The harvest awaiting us will be one of eternal life—an abundance of endless joy and fulfillment. What a glorious celebration that harvest will be! May the Lord enable us to be faithful reapers, for the sake of His Son.

Therefore, let us be diligent in sowing to the Spirit, knowing that the harvest will be a bountiful one of everlasting life.
