Pick the Right Partner: Partnering with God
With the rise of television in the 1950's and 60's, every mom got a new partner in parenting. From Captain Kangaroo to Elmo to Gilligan, new voices were speaking into the lives of children everywhere.
In the early years, the voices on the box could be trusted to be a moral compass to the basics of right and wrong, but that train has long left the station.
Now the digital world has become a parental stand-in wherever a vacuum is found in a child's life - and it cannot be trusted! Your child is simply their marketing target for any and all ideas and agendas.
We can also no longer blindly assume that we have trustworthy partners in all education forums, civil authorities, and even children's "advocates". Of course, there are some helpful influences, but too many have an agenda that seeks to undermine our mission to train them up the way they should go.
But, fear not mama bear! Just because the world does not offer reliable partnerships does not mean we are alone. God has made Himself available! We have only to ask, seek, and knock.

Take a look at some of what God says is ours that can help us mom well. What do you need that He is offering?
James 1:5 NLT
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
2 Timothy 3:14-17 NLT
But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. 15 You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
Hebrews 4:16 NLT
16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Ephesians 1:16-19 NLT
16 I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, 17 asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom[f] and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. 18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.[g]
19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.
REFLECT & PRAY
God is offering Himself, His power, His wisdom and His resources to help us as we raise godly humans for His glory. It is clear from Jochebed's journey that she was not in it alone. She partnered with God and was able to act boldly, courageously, and selflessly in His power and with His guidance.
Think about all God is offering. What do you need that He says is available? As we close our time together, pray and ask God for what you need to be a wise and courageous- not just a fierce- mama bear.
He is for you! And so are we.
