Our Restoration

DAY 2 OF 5

Reconnecting with God

Understanding God’s original creation, and the distortions brought about by the fall, prepares us to comprehend our present restoration. God’s original plan for the human family is both the creation model and the restoration miracle. When we remember what Christ accomplished on our behalf, we glimpse the restoration that is our heritage as children of God. This marvelous transformation is not a future expectation. It is available as a present experience.

Through faith, we are reunited with God, restored, and transformed. We have a new identity. We are born again. God’s life that was in Christ is now miraculously imparted into us when we believe in Him. His truth alters our entire worldview, value system and lifestyle. We become Christ-conscious. That is why we are called Christians.

Christianity is not simply a way of thinking, but a way of living. If our restored relationship with God does not reshape our lifestyles, then our faith is no more than a religious philosophy or a vague wish without present significance.

Everything that concerns our lives changes when we discover a personal relationship with God through Christ. The sin that separated us from Him is expunged (1 Peter 3:18). We have peace with God; we are no longer alienated from Him (Romans 5:1, Colossians 1:19). We can now walk with Him and know His voice (John 10:27). This garden relationship, this union of divinity and humanity, is restored to us through Jesus Christ.

Our restoration includes the recovery of God’s image in us (Romans 8:29). Shame no longer contaminates the subconscious, causing men and women to react from a distorted and inferior self-image. We can be free from the sinful motivations that influence unconverted lives.

We no longer live under condemnation and guilt. We no longer listen to influences that suggest that we are not valuable, that our lives have no meaning, or that we are insignificant. We are redeemed. Our dignity is restored. As children of God, we are restored to our created status as God’s royal offspring. We become members of His family.

Thank You, Jesus, for the dignity that I have through You. I am not my old self; I have been made new!

About this Plan

Our Restoration

The gospel is the divine revelation that redemption starts with God’s plan, is tested by separation, is triumphant through Christ, and now transforms and restores us. This five-day plan describes what God accomplished in the fourth scene of His Big Picture, and the invitation He extends for us to represent Him in bringing restoration to the world.
