The wait is over. It’s time for David to assume his throne, to reunite the tribes of Israel, and to take back Jerusalem. What follows is an impressive series of conquests, expansions, plans to build the temple, and even the return of the ark. And through it all, we see one phrase repeated:“Then David inquired of the Lord".

This dependence on God and the success that follows is what led David to write one of the best-known chapters of the Bible, Psalm 23. Years of preparation have come to this one, massive important reality for David: “The Lord is my shepherd".
