Day 7 - Walking Out Your Prophetic Words
1 Thessalonians 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophecies. 21Test all things; hold fast what is good. 22Abstain from every form of evil. (NKJV)
In these verses, God is informing us to“not despise prophecies.” In other words, don’t become jaded with prophetic ministry.
We are told to “not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (NLT)
The Bible tells us of the plans God has for our lives, and those plans are good. He is a good Father leading us into more of His goodness here on earth. So, what’s our role in partnering with God after receiving a prophetic word or promise?
First, “Test all things; hold fast to what is good.”
The Greek word for the word test is dokimazo (dok-im-ad'-zo) – properly, to try (test) to show something is acceptable (real, approved); put to the test to reveal what is good (genuine)
4 tips:
- Does the prophetic word line up with the Word of God?
- Is it good? Only, “hold fast to what is good.”
- Does it bring Jesus glory?
- Pray and ask for what your part is, and the timing.
In Luke 1 God sends the angel Gabriel to deliver the prophetic word to the Virgin Mary, and mother of the Messiah, that she will be giving birth to King Jesus. Luke 1:38 – And Mary said, “Behold, the Lord’s bond-servant; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. (NASB)
The Greek word for“may it be done," ginomai (ghin'-om-ahee) - means to come into being/manifestation implying motion, movement, or growth." Thus it is used for God's actions as emerging from eternity and becoming (showing themselves) in time (physical space).
Essentially Mary was saying, I agree, let it happen on earth as it is in heaven. When we receive a word and we “test” the word and know it’s from the Lord, we then carry a heart posture of, “I agree God, let it be manifested on earth.”
Prayer: God, grant me the grace and wisdom to walk out the words you have spoken over my life.
