Habits:
Psalm 121:1-2 I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
There are so many times in my life that I have looked toward worldly solutions to my spiritual problems. I thought this solution would help, but it ended up prolonging the issue. We can go to everything except God because we are either ashamed of the problem or ashamed we need help. Either way, the shame we feel is a lie from the enemy. What can happen is we start to develop habits that take us away from God because we don’t believe he wants to hear from us.
Consequently, these habits that we have created to cope with our problems take up our time, time that could be spent with God, who can actually restore us. Our help comes from the creator of all things. A creator who is a loving Father longing to spend time with you. Whatever poor pattern you are stuck in, God can break the cycle and you can be free of this burden. Unhealthy habits do not define you; your Savior does.
Practice: What poor habits have you developed that take away from your time with God? How can we change them into habits that bring us closer to Jesus?
Is there a habit that wastes your time?
Is there an occasional habit you need to break?
Is there a hobby you love that brings you joy?
