Jesus Warns Us

“It’s like Heaven on earth!”

We use that expression when we are taken with something so delightful, it seems almost perfect. Whether the beauty of a scenic overlook or a tantalizing dessert or an experience we want to last, our hope is that we can have in our lifetime peace, joy, happiness, harmony and fulfillment. In other words, “Heaven on earth!”

But Jesus tells us the opposite will be true, that before His return, there will be catastrophic events beyond our control. These will be the signs that the end is near and His return, imminent. And it will be especially evident for His followers who will have to undergo persecution. Jesus warns His followers about what is to come and to "be alert” and preoccupied with doing the work of His Kingdom. The work is to evangelize, take care of the poor and helpless, and persevere to the end.

Some focus on how things are getting progressively worse in today’s world. Others believe that with the technology and scientific advancements, things are progressively getting better.
