The Balanced Bible Reading Planنموونە
“Plan Introduction, Part 3 of 4”
Here are the spiritual food groups found in the Bible as I, and others, have identified them:
Creation/Law: The first five books of the Old Testament, the Pentateuch, begins with the book of Genesis and ends with the book of Deuteronomy.
History: The historical record of the Old Testament begins with the book of Joshua and ends with the book of Esther.
Poetry: The poetry of the Old Testament begins with the book of Job and ends with the Song of Songs.
Prophecy: The Old Testament prophecy begins with the book of Isaiah and ends with the book of Malachi.
Gospels/Acts: The story of Jesus and the early church is found in Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts.
Letters: The letters of Paul and other early church leaders begins with Romans and ends with Revelation.
If we are going to have a well-balanced diet of spiritual nourishment, we need to read a portion of each of these sections every day. The Balanced Bible Reading Plan provides balanced readings from each section for all 365 days of the year. Here are some interesting statistics about the Bible and this plan:
Creation/Law: 187 Chapters, 5852 Verses, about 16.03 per day.
History: 249 Chapters, 6946 Verses, about 19.03 per day.
Poetry: 243 Chapters, 4785 Verses, about 13.11 per day.
Prophecy: 250 Chapters, 5490 Verses, about 15.04 per day.
Gospel/Acts: 117 Chapters, 4786 Verses, about 13.11 per day.
Letters: 143 Chapters, 3170 Verses, about 8.68 per day.
Here are the percentages each spiritual food group makes up of the entire Bible: Creation/Law, 18.86%; History, 22.39%; Poetry, 15.42%; Prophecy, 17.69%; Gospel/Acts, 15.42%; and Letters, 10.21%.

About this Plan
This plan views the Bible as spiritual nourishment, and just as the best, most enjoyable diet is one of balanced variety, this plan offers daily readings from 6 spiritual "food groups" like this, for example: Each day you will have a 1) CREATION/LAW appetizer, a 2) HISTORY main entrée with a side dish of 3) POETRY and 4) PROPHECY with 5) GOSPELS/ACTS to drink and 6) LETTERS for dessert. ENJOY!
