The Peace God Gives

DAY 1 OF 6

Judges 6:23-24

And the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die. Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD and called it Jehovah shalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

God has seven redemptive names In the scriptures and one of them is Jehovah Shalom which means Jehovah is Peace. Another way to put it is: "The Lord is at peace with me or The Lord is my peace."

This is a most beautiful truth; the Great and mighty God has chosen to be at peace with me and you. If you have received the Lord Jesus into your heart, this is your reality: the Lord is at peace with you, He has become your peace.

In our text, Gideon was in a time of fear and turbulence, but when the Lord appeared to him the Lord assured him that He was at peace with him. This statement drove Gideon to say that the Lord was his peace. This scenario relates to us; we are faced with turbulent situations and challenging times but the word of the Lord to us is that He is our peace and that He is on our side.

This devotional is to set our hearts on one simple truth: The God of the Universe is at peace with us and He has given us His peace. As you read this devotional, it doesn't matter how turbulent and chaotic your life may be or how depressed and confused you seem, God is on your side, and as He said to Gideon He is saying to you "...Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die." Judges 6:23 KJV

Action Point:

Reflect on the truth that God is at peace with you, regardless of your circumstances. Take a moment to internalize this reality and let it bring comfort and assurance to your heart.
