More Than Conquerors: Claiming Victory Over Sinنموونە
Stand
When it comes to fighting the Enemy and temptation, the Bible tells us not to advance or attack, but to resist and stand firm. Why? Simple. The Enemy has already been defeated.
Thanks to Jesus, Satan holds no power over us, those who belong to God. If he ever wins a battle against a Christian, it is not because he is stronger, but because that Christian gave him the advantage and let him win.
Those stories in the news about fallen spiritual leaders? Do not let them discourage you. They do not prove that the Enemy is winning or that the spiritual tables have turned somehow. They only prove the necessity of staying alert spiritually and recognizing the Enemy and his tactics so you do not give him a foothold.
Where the Enemy is concerned, the best offense is always a good defense.
Have you given the Enemy any footholds in your life? If so, what do you need to do? How might assuming that you are above or immune to temptation set you up for failure? What should you do instead?
Read James 4:7, Ephesians 4:27, and Ephesians 6:10-18.
About this Plan
“More than conquerors,” that’s what the Bible calls those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ for eternal salvation from the consequences of sin (Romans 8:35-39). So why do we continue to struggle after surrendering our lives to Him? Because the Enemy is alive and well and wants to steal our joy. Don’t let him! Overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit instead.
