Day 8 – Availability: A Home of Welcome

As a mom of multiple teens working a full-time job, sometimes I wished that I could be in multiple places all at once. I wanted to see my daughter’s soccer game and still make it in time to see my son pitch at baseball. I wanted to say yes to that project at work and be able to help with my daughter’s essays for college applications. I wanted to volunteer for my daughter’s play and attend Bible study with my friends. It’s tough, on a daily basis, to decide between multiple good choices.

Whatever choices you make in this busy season, let me encourage you: Don’t neglect your time in the Word and prayer. As we parent teens, we desperately need time to be recharged and refreshed with truth from God’s Word. Prayer is our lifeline, and God promises us wisdom as we seek him. He’s available and has the power to help guide us when we are unsure about the way forward. Ask him to give you discernment for all the choices before you today.
