Day 7 – Finding the Sweet Spot (Part 2)
As we spend time each day with Jesus, He begins to reveal things to us.
He shows us what we need to work on in our character, He helps us to forgive, He gives us wisdom for situations we find ourselves in, and He develops our God-given call.
The more that we take steps to deepen the relational calling we have to Jesus, the more we will find Him revealing the specific purpose that we have for God’s Kingdom; that which God desires us to undertake before time began, and that in which we will find our purpose truly fulfilled — how we will be most effective for His Kingdom.
The time we spend with God develops our character, our competency, and our capacity. This impacts our abilities, our attitude, and our personality and develops us into the people who will be prepared to accomplish what God has set us apart for.
Combine this with our spiritual gifts that are given to us directly from God, which also increases as we spend time with Him, and step out in faith with confidence in what He has placed on our lives. He is the one who anoints these spaces, and this continues to grow as we are faithful with the little to start with.
The context that we operate in – physical time and space — can change from season to season. We find that the call on our lives can be expressed in different places, for different seasons, depending on where we are and the opportunities that God places before us.
We are most effective for the Kingdom when our context, spiritual anointing, and personal attributes are all submitted to God and working in alignment with each other.
One key is to not move too fast! Look at the story of Joseph (read Gen 37, 44-45). He wanted to step into the call he felt in the dreams and sought self-appointment as a result. But God’s hand of anointing was not there yet. He needed to be patient for the appointment calling and rest in the call to God first. When God brings the alignment into your life, we will find the ‘sweet spot’ of calling to Him and for Him.
Today’s Questions:
1. Are you pursuing God to develop your character, competency, and capacity?
2. Where are you feeling the stretch in your development?
3. What do you need to re-submit to God today?
We hope that you have found this devotion helpful in thinking about the life that you are living. If you want more information or would like to connect with us, please head to https://c3victory.org.au.
About this Plan
"What is my Calling?" If you've been in church for a while (or even a little bit) chances are you've heard this question before... but what does it all mean, and how do we even find our calling? Over the next seven days, we are going to explore this idea. We will ‘bust some myths’ and become confident and secure in the call of God on our lives.
