Not What I Signed Up For

DAY 1 OF 5

Trust That God Intends Good

Reflection:

There are several places in Scripture where God promises to be your refuge. He does not promise you deliverance from every fearful circumstance but liberation from a fearful heart.

Even in the most exhausting and confusing life events, God promises to be your strength. He is with you, giving you courage and equipping you when your faith is weak. In such moments, you can act from the intentional belief that God has power over your circumstances and that His love will meet you in the reality and difficulty of life.

One way to do this is to allow yourself to feel everything you are feeling right now but also to recognize that Jesus is with you in it. He is not surprised. He is not judgmental. He is simply with you, offering His love and grace.

God has plans to accomplish good for you and through you. He not only wants to meet you in your pain, but He has plans to redeem your suffering and shape your heart through it.

It is often impossible to see what God is doing in the middle of a challenging season, which is why it is important for you to remind yourself of God’s promises.

God, help me to speak Your sovereignty over my current circumstances and remind me that You are in control, even in the most difficult parts. Help me to remember how Your plans for me in the past have been revealed to be good.
