Divine Leading

DAY 2 OF 31

RECOGNIZE THE APPROPRIATE LEADER TO FOLLOW

God always leads His people from the front, whether individuals, families, or churches. The crucial question to address is, "Who is my leader on this occasion? Who is leading me currently?" Answering this question personally is key to navigating life in the kingdom because following the leader is fundamental.

Looking at Luke 3 again, before commencing His ministry at the age of 30, Jesus, though the Son of God, refrained from performing miracles. Instead, He awaited the arrival of the Holy Spirit. Immediately after, the Bible notes that Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness – a fact that we established yesterday.

The apostles experienced the Spirit leading them contrary to their expectations. Some examples of how The Holy Spirit led the apostles are below:

  • The Holy Spirit guided the selection of two leaders – Saul and Barnabas – and commissioned them to preach the Gospel in Salamis (Acts 13:2-5)
  • The Holy Spirit guided Paul and his team to Macedonia despite wanting to go to other regions (Acts 16:6-9)
  • The Holy Spirit led Phillip to minister to the Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8:29-39)

Identifying the leader in different settings is crucial; following the wrong leader can lead to danger and destruction.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to see and identify who and what I am to follow in whatever setting I find myself in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
