Restore My Soul: How to Start Moving From Hurting to Healing

DAY 3 OF 3

(Video and written content are the same.)

Prone to Wander

In Psalm 107, the psalmist provides four stories from the lives of God's people, the choices they made in response to their circumstances, and how God acted on their behalf. Today's verses begin the first stanza on the history of the people of Israel. The bleakness of their lives can be felt by the explanation of their environment, a lack of purpose, a void, and the decline in their quality of life.

When your heart takes a hit, it's challenging to remain focused. It's easy to be prone to wander and feel lost, without a sense of purpose. The clock ticks by, and you are just trying to get through a few hours without a meltdown. Maybe you feel like something is missing and life has moved backwards rather than forwards. From today's verses, we can recognize that we aren't the first to encounter emotions of loss, rejection, purposelessness, and emptiness. Through recognizing this fact, we can accept our humanity and the need to turn to the Lord in all things, big and small.

Pray with Me

Lord, I'm having trouble finding a way through this heartache. The emptiness that exists is unexplainable. The days are slipping by, and it's all I can do to get through. Help me, Lord, to see that You know my human limitations. Take the emotional rollercoaster ride with me, Jesus. I turn to You.
