You Can Live a Blessed Life
In 1 Timothy, the apostle Paul is writing to his young protege in the faith, Timothy. Paul tells Timothy that “the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.” vs. 10. Notice, that it does not say, “Money is the root of all kinds of evil,” but “the love of money.” Money is neutral. It can be used for good or bad, remember - but, the love of money has led so many people to make terrible decisions and destroy their lives.
It is okay to have money. In fact, God has given us all abilities to make money. God wants us to do great at our jobs and to excel professionally. God wants you to be successful, but He wants you to keep Him first. “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” vs. 6. If we pursue God and keep Him first, especially with our finances, then we will have great gain.
Money never satisfies. I have never met anyone who said, “I have enough money.” There is always this insatiable desire for more. It is never enough. As the famous rapper sang, “Mo’ money, mo’ problems.” This is so true! The more we have, the more time we spend wanting to protect it, insure it, fix it, take care of it, and have more of it. We must make God the priority of our lives - personally and professionally. Then, we don’t do a job just for money, but we start to do the things we love and that will make a difference.
Regardless of how much money we have, just by virtue of living in the United States of America, we are in the top 90% of the wealthiest people in the world. We are blessed. In fact, we are blessed beyond measure with Jesus, salvation in Christ alone, heaven, family, friends, church, community, and financial blessings. Instead of living a defeated life, let’s begin to live a blessed life. Let’s stop comparing ourselves to everyone on social media, then let’s find godliness and learn to be content with all that we have in Him. You are blessed!
