DAY 18 OF 24

Day 18 by Shane Mora, Livestream Technical Producer of UPPERROOM Dallas

Today’s Reading: Philemon, Hebrews 1-10

"For what is mankind that God is thoughtful of.." (Hebrews 2:6)

Take time to meditate on this - God is thoughtful of mankind. Paul reminds us of Job's words, representing God's unconditional love for us. I think of how I once participated with humanity in its rebellion against God. He could have easily made us extinct in response to our rebellion. However, in relentless love, He continued to pursue us. Through the garden, the temple, through a man (His Son), and ultimately through the Holy Spirit, we witness His persistent pursuit of us. God's desire is to be in our hearts and for us to be with Him. Who am I that God would pursue me so relentlessly? I have done nothing, and He requires nothing of me other than my heart's "yes." This love humbles me. I am in awe. I want to pursue Him and give Him my all in response to His great love.

How do we live this daily? Keep fixing our thoughts on Him. (Hebrews 3:1) The works of our life are to reflect the love that abides in our hearts and minds. We keep Him near in all things, hold firmly to the faith we profess, and express that love with our hands and towards our neighbor. In Jesus, we have gained everything we need. He is our source of life, salvation, provider, comfort, peace, and everything. He is God in the flesh and the perfect sacrifice. We rest in that, and while it is still called today, we praise Him and thank Him for all He is.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for reminding us today of your perfect love for us and for giving everything to be with us. Search my heart and mind, and fill them with all You are. Let the way that I love others be a reflection of the way You have first loved me. Amen.
