PRAYING FOR UNITY
Unity is something that God values, but our culture lacks it. Our culture has been finding more and more ways to segregate and separate. Looking in judgment upon anyone different in any way, whether it's age, gender, ethnicity, or financial status, and the list just keeps growing. But in this world full of reasons for people to separate, Jesus said that His disciples would be known for the way they love one another. He said as we all come to Him that we are no longer marked by all the areas that used to divide us but marked by him. We become one people, a people in Christ (Gal. 3:28). Not only does He heal our brokenness and restore our relationship to Him, but He commissions us with the ministry of reconciliation. Heaven will be a place filled with people from every tribe and nation, all gathered and united before God. God loves and values unity (Psalm 133:1). As we pray for unity, here are some ways you can pray:
- Pray for God’s people to be marked by God’s love. (John 13:35)
- Pray for God’s people to unite around putting God first. (Eph. 2:13-16; Acts 1:14)
- Pray that God would give us His eyes to see those around us.
- Pray for reconciliation where there has been brokenness (2 Cor. 5:17-20)
- Pray for the church on earth to look like the church in heaven. Where all people gather and worship God together. (Rev. 7:9)
About this Plan
We are taking 21 days to seek God first. Prayer is powerful! Prayer is a way that we can partner with God to see His kingdom come and His will be done. When we pray together, it draws us closer to God, bringing not only results but unity as we seek Him together.
