Salvation

DAY 3 OF 3

Will Be Saved

Perhaps you grew up with notions of heaven being all about clouds and harps and chubby angels, but the Bible paints a far more tangible, colourful, textured vision of heaven, incomprehensible in its wonder and brilliance. Astonishingly, we will be part of that picture, saved and forever transformed in the glorious presence of our great God.

The third and final phase of our salvation as followers of Jesus is futuristic: we will be saved. Because of that, we get to live with hope and expectation. Surely, our approach to all of life would change if we were mindful that every day that we live brings us one day closer to eternity when we’ll exchange this temporal life for eternal life.

At the end of the age, when Jesus comes again to restore and renew all things, we’ll be given immortal, spiritual, glorious, and incorruptible bodies. (1 Corinthians 15:52-54) Saul (later the apostle Paul) encountered the risen, glorified Christ, so with that understanding, he later described to the Roman believers the anticipation of redeemed bodies (Romans 8:23-24). Paul also describes in 1 Corinthians 15:42-49 our hope to be resurrected with Jesus when He comes again. Humanity, which in every way appears shameful, dishonourable, disgraceful, and immoral, bears within itself the capacity for eternal glory – the capacity to become fully glorious in the image of the risen Christ.

May you never lose your sense of wonder at God’s astonishing, redemptive work in your life. May Jesus remind you daily of the unmerited gift of His death and resurrection on your behalf, which unshakably established your identity. May your eyes be opened to all how you’re beginning to look more and more like Him as you grow in maturity. And as you travel through time towards eternity with the hope that your destiny is secure, may you look forward with joy to an everlasting future with Him.

About this Plan

Salvation

We talk a lot about salvation. But what does that mean? This reading plan will give you a deeper understanding of God’s redemptive work in your life. Alan Platt explores three dimensions – past, present, and future – of salvation. You have been saved, which establishes your identity. You are being saved because you’re on a path to maturity. And you will be saved because God has secured your eternal future.
