12 Days of God's Character: The Christmas Storyنموونە
Day 1: Preparation
As the Christmas season approaches, chances are that you feel unprepared in some sort of way. Maybe the tree still isn’t up - in fact, maybe you haven’t even purchased one yet! Maybe the gifts aren’t wrapped, much less bought. Or perhaps, you haven’t even started your shopping list.
Yet, as we find ourselves unprepared for the Christmas season, we can take a step back and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. And, beyond that, we can sit in the solace of knowing that God is prepared and always has been. Even before Jesus was born, He was preparing the world for His coming through John the Baptist. He was working a miracle in Elizabeth and Zechariah before ever working a miracle in Mary.
What does this mean for us?
It means that we can take heart in the beauty of God’s preparedness and grace, even when we fall short. The Lord is still working - even when we rest. He is still working - even when we make mistakes. And He is still working when we’ve momentarily given up.
Pray with us -
Lord, as I go throughout my day today, I pray that you remind me of the Lord’s sovereignty and preparation over all things. There is not a single day that He doesn’t know the outcome. Let me not become caught up in the chaos of the Christmas season and forget to sit with the Child of Christmas himself. If I don’t complete another task but sit at your feet - remind me that that is enough. That you are enough. You are good and faithful to me, even when I don’t deserve it. Let your word ring true this holiday. You are so so good. Amen.
