When Holidays Hurtنموونە
Love Larger than Life
When my daughter could no longer remember how to put her socks on, a pit formed in my stomach. Her terminal diagnosis marked my soul with bitterness and dread.
I've felt the ache of sadness and the burn of anger deep within. I'm guessing you have too.
Today's passage describes God's wrath at the enemy's attack on David, his child. David's description of God's emotion from heaven's throne eases my distress. His protective anger over his child caused the earth to quake and the mountains to shake. He parted the heavens and came down to earth to declare his reign. The brightness of his presence radiated and drove the clouds away.
His light still makes the darkness flee. Though the enemy is great, and death may seem to have won, it does not have the final say. The grave does not have the victory.
"There is no pit too deep that God's love is not deeper still."- Corrie Ten Boom
You may feel depleted and defeated.
But you have a rescuer.
Death could not overpower him, and he is your Support.
His love is larger than life.
Pray with Me
Lord, take hold of me. The enemy is too great for me, and loss saturates my soul. Be my rescuer. Though death confronts me, though disaster tries to grip me, your grace is bigger, and your love is stronger. Amen.
See you tomorrow!
