Encouragement for Living on Purpose: Living the Life That God Ordained for You a 5-Day Devotional by Crystal W. Davisنموونە
Purpose Day 5: Just Show Up
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1, NKJV)
Moses gave every excuse he could think of to keep from doing what God called him to do. In Exodus Chapters Three and Four, we witness the dialogue between the two as Moses’s calling and commission unfold.
The conversation started with Moses saying, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?” (Exodus 4:13, NLT)
Excuse.
Excuse.
Then, more excuses.
Finally, Moses said, “Lord, please! Send anyone else.” (Exodus 4:13, NLT)
Can you believe Moses? This was God – El-Shaddai – The All-Sufficient One to whom he spoke.
Evidently, Moses did not realize God would have His way, no matter what he said.
One can imagine God probably wanted to say; I’m not asking you, Moses, to do this on our own. I want to do it through you. I just need you to Show Up.
How many times has God required something of you that you felt you were not qualified for? Or maybe you thought you were inadequate or not worthy of the calling. Yet, all the time, you were thinking of reasons why you couldn’t; God was speaking, all the reasons why you should.
“Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up.” —Brené Brown.
Daily Prayer
Father, You know the plans you have for me. Plans to prosper me and not harm me. Plans to give me hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV) When fear and insecurity try to set in, help me to trust You even when I don’t understand Your process. Today, I submit my will to Yours and decree that Your plans and purpose for my life are established on earth as they are in Heaven. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
Daily Affirmation
Lord, here I am, send me.
