The Beauty of Jesus | Remedy for a Discouraged Soul نموونە
DAY 2 — HE IS ALTOGETHER LOVELY
So far, we have seen the beauty of Jesus in His hands, feet, prayer, humility, and heart for us and the world. Here are five more ways we can be captivated by His beauty.
- How beautiful are His words at the cross when He said, "Father forgive them," as He glanced at soldiers that nailed Him and gambled for His garment, the religious leaders that mocked Him, and the blasphemous crowds that hated Him. Jesus didn’t despise those who insulted Him. He prayed for them. (Luke 23:32–34)
- How beautiful are His eyes that looked at the thief at the cross without condemnation and said, "Truly I say to you, you will be with Me in paradise." (Luke 23:43)
- How beautiful is His handwriting, when He stoops down in front of the woman caught in adultery and He writes down in the dirt. He says to the woman, "Who condemns you now?" "No one Lord," she utters. "Neither do I condemn you. Now you can go and sin no more." (John 8:1–11)
- How beautiful is His love in John 11:3–5, when they said, "Jesus, the one whom You love is sick..." Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus… and you!
- How beautiful are His tears when in John 11:33, He saw Mary weeping and was moved deeply—verse 35, "Jesus wept."
"HE is altogether lovely."
Luke 10:38–42 also says this about Mary and her Sister Martha, "Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, 'Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.' And Jesus answered and said to her, 'Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.'"
Tomorrow, we will further explore why Mary chose to sit at His feet, what it really means, and how we can do what she did so we can experience the amazing benefits that come at His feet. This will apply the remedy God has already provided for a discouraged soul, and help us experience His freedom like never before!
