Hannah
Have you ever felt picked on, overlooked, and like no one understood what you were going through? Hannah would understand. Her husband loved her, but her heart desired a child; no matter what, she couldn't get pregnant. She repeatedly felt like a failure to herself and her husband. Not only that, but his other wife continued to mock her and criticize her, trying to push her into despair further. Then, while pouring out her heart to God in desperation, she was misunderstood and judged by the priest, who thought she was drunk and foolish. Hannah knows what it feels like to feel pushed aside, trampled, and rejected.
But, even then, she didn't let that stop her hope in God. In her darkest hour, she pressed into Him even more and offered Him the most precious gift. She poured out her heart to God and said that if He would give her a son, she would dedicate him to the Lord for his whole life. Amid her pain, she offered up her most significant sacrifice, and when the Lord answered her, she responded with worship.
Sometimes, the pain can seem insurmountable, but God always hears us. In 1 Sam. 2, we read Hannah's song of redemption. We can see how God restored her hope and promises to be with us today. God turned what the enemy intended for evil into an amazing testimony of His goodness and blessing.
Why do you think God granted Hannah's request, and what inspiration did Hannah's prayer bring you?
What areas of your life do you need to pour out to God today?
