Daily Bible Reading – November 2023, God’s Saving Word: Praise and Thanksgivingنموونە
November 2
Introduction
Genesis 2:4b–25: Today’s reading offers another account of creation. While it differs from the orderly account recorded in Genesis 1, both accounts affirm God as creator. The Garden of Eden is a focal point in the Genesis 2 creation account.
Today’s Key Verse: Genesis 2:7a
The LORD God took some soil from the ground and formed a man out of it.
Reflect
According to today’s reading, how and what did God create first? Compare this account of creation with the one from yesterday’s reading (Genesis 1). What differences can you identify? In what ways are the two accounts similar? How do you envision the Garden of Eden as described in Genesis 2? What did God place in the middle of the garden (verse 9)? What instructions did God give the man (verses 15–17)? How did God form “a suitable companion” for the man (verses 21–23)?
Pray
Holy God, source of life, I thank and praise you for the beautiful world you have created. Teach me to live in harmony with your creation and to cultivate and guard the earth, giving glory to you. In your holy name, I pray. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Psalm 104: A psalm that praises God as Creator.
