The Shepherd (S1-E9)

DAY 2 OF 4

Prayer:

"Lord, help me to listen ánd to do. I would like to do what I should do. Even if I have to make a sacrifice. I want to be there for my neighbor. Amen."

Take the following questions to think about:

  • Are you a doer or do you stick to just hearing?
  • For whom can you be a neighbor today? Who in your community needs help right now?

Hearing & Doing

Hear and do. Which words do you need to hear and to do too?

In this special episode of The Chosen, we see the following happen.

A limping shepherd, scolded by a Pharisee because the lamb he brings is not perfect, and abandoned by his colleagues, decides to do something good for someone else. He meets Joseph and Mary and gives the thirsty Mary his own water.

In Luke 10, we read the so-familiar story of the Good Samaritan. The story is introduced with the question: 'Who is my neighbor? ‘

Who is your neighbor?

Are you willing to help your neighbor even if you yourself are in a situation of difficulty? A situation where you are disowned and don't belong?

We read it in the story of the Good Samaritan. A man who does not belong because he comes from Samaria, a land that the Jews avoid as much as possible. They hate Samaritans.

The shepherds, a group of men not held in esteem by their own people, hear a special message. They set off to meet and worship Jesus, the King.

What words do you need to hear? When will you get moving? When will you do something?

Christmas can be one of those times for people when they step it up a notch. Because they hear of 'peace on earth', it creates a nice feeling to do something 'good'.

When are you a neighbor to someone else? Only at Christmas or at the moment someone needs it?
