Fruit of the Spirit

DAY 11 OF 15

Early in Jesus’ ministry, people came from Galilee, Jerusalem, Judea and from across the Jordan to hear Him. Large crowds of people followed everywhere He went. One day Jesus went up into the mountain with His disciples and began to preach. Jesus taught the disciples what a life in God’s kingdom should be. This teaching has become known as the sermon on the mount, because that’s where Jesus was, on a mountain!

Jesus spoke to them about a new way to live, He taught that we shouldn’t look at what’s on the outside to know what a person is like. We should look for the fruit that comes from their life.

A life with Jesus produces good fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. By their fruit you will recognise that a person is truly living a life with Jesus. Don’t look at the tree to see if it’s a good tree, look for its fruit!

Don’t be impressed with charisma or what’s on the outside of a person. Look for character instead of just listening to what they say. The fruit you can look for comes from a life filled with God’s Spirit. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
