Steadfast Love
Have you ever experienced a love unchanging, firmly fixed, and immovable? In other words, a steadfast love? Lamentations 3:22-23 provides us with a prominent example of God's steadfast love that brings hope and comfort to many believers like you and me. It emphasizes the nature of God's love, mercy, and faithfulness. Let's breakdown the verse together.
"The steadfast of the Lord never ceases;" This beginning verse declares that God's love is unfailing and unending. It's a love that has no end. "His mercies never come to an end." The verse continues to describe the boundless love of God by His mercies. In Psalm 136, the word of God says, "His mercies endure forever." The mercies of God that are new every morning and are limitless. These passages should give us reassurance and hope that God's love, kindness, and care for his people are fully available to those who call on him.
Many people in the Bible experienced the steadfast love of God in various ways and in difficult times. In Genesis 17, we see that God promised Abraham that he will make him the father of many nations, despite his old age and his wife Sarah's infertility, displaying God's faithfulness to His covenant. We also see God's steadfast love upon the Israelites in Exodus rescuing them from slavery in Egypt. This was a testament to God's compassion for His people. The parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15 illustrates the steadfast love for those who repent and return back to him. The father's love and forgiveness demonstrate God's mercy and grace.
These people in the Bible and many more experienced the steadfast love of God in diverse circumstances. Whether you are trusting God for the fruit of the womb, job, marriage, a breakthrough in your business, or even deliverance from sin and addiction, I want to encourage you that God wants you to trust in him, for great is His faithfulness. I pray that we are reminded that regardless of the difficulties, mistakes we've made, and the adversity we may face, we can always rest on the unfailing steadfast love of God.
