You Were Made to Flourish

DAY 3 OF 10

Day 3: Believe in the Seed:

Welcome to day 3! Over the past few days, we’ve discussed the importance of being connected to the source (Jesus Christ) and the need for us to have a vision for our lives.

Today we’re talking about our responsibility to believe in the seed!

In Matthew 13, God’s Word is compared to a seed. Just like a farmer, to release the Word’s potential in our lives, we must live aware of its power. When we do, we will revere it. We will prioritize preparing our hearts to receive it. Then we will consistently plant it, protect it, and nurture it. We will intentionally set aside daily time to study Scripture, meditate on God’s truths, and stand on His promises in prayer.

In Hebrews 5:12, we read that a spiritually mature believer needs “strong meat,” and Jesus calls Himself the Bread of Life (John 6:35) and the Living Water (John 4:10). It makes the truth abundantly clear: God’s Word is fuel for our spirit and nourishment for our souls! When we partake of it consistently, like healthy food, it keeps us energized and alert.

In life, we’ll all experience pain and trauma that will try to persuade us toward temporary relief. Still, none of these things will compare to the lasting nourishment we receive and the continual growth we experience from feeding on God’s Word. And like a baby, the more we mature, the more we need to sustain ourselves. That’s why 1 Peter 2:2-3 says, “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.”

You may or may not need physical or mental healing today, but we all have areas in our lives in which we need some type of healing, direction, or changed perspective. We all have areas in which we aren’t flourishing. What are yours? I encourage you to search the Word for God’s promises in that area. Then, write them out and speak them out loud every day. Meditate on them as food for your spirit, and don’t settle for the counterfeit!

As we conclude today, think to yourself: Where is the first place you turn when you need comfort or advice? If it’s not the Bible, how can you remind yourself to turn to Scripture before anything else?
