Be Confident in Godنموونە
Confidence to come before God in prayer
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
The Lord God is great and holy. He is infinitely far above us humans. Therefore, it is very special that we can talk to Him and that He is willing to listen to us! Yet that is exactly what we see throughout the Bible.
For example, the Old Testament describes prayers of King Solomon and of Daniel. They prayed on behalf of their people. They were keenly aware of God's holiness, yet they came before His throne in prayer because they needed His help. The book of Psalms also contains numerous examples of personal and communal prayers in all kinds of situations.
The Lord Jesus encourages us to speak to our heavenly Father and present our needs to Him. We also read in 1 John 5:14, “And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us.” What an amazing promise! In addition to reverence, confidence may characterize our prayer because we stand holy and righteous before God in Christ.
When you pray, do you dwell on Who you are actually talking to? What does it mean for you to “with confidence draw near to the throne of grace”?
