Purify Your Mind Series (Part 1) by Joe Kirbyنموونە
Protect Your Portals
The raw truth is this: you have a problem with purity today because you have set wicked things before your eyes in the past. Our eyes are the gates to the rest of our body, they are the portals to the soul, and whatever fascinates your eyes will soon gain admission to the heart. If you want to defeat the sin of lust, there is no other option but to learn how to control your eyes. The Devil is crafty; he shows you just enough to intrigue you and then he increases the temptation with every look. Each piece of bait gets larger and more irresistible until we find ourselves captured by a cold, cruel hook and realize we’ve been click-baited yet again.
So don’t fall for the bait; aimless scrolling on your phone is inviting disaster. Watching wicked things on TV will not do either. If we are vigilant in the early stages with what things we watch and what games we play, it will be much easier to nip the sin in the bud before it gets bigger. So, today, when your eyes lock onto something enticing, remember it always leaves you empty. Sin always overpromises. If a castle only has one weak spot, one possible access point for the enemy to invade, you know the king’s soldiers will do all they can to defend this single entry point. Shouldn’t we also do all we can to defend our only access point, by protecting our eyes against the armies of lust?
