Break Up With What Broke You: How God Redeems and Rewrites Your Story

DAY 5 OF 5

You Have A Testimony

You have a testimony—one that needs to be shared. Your heavenly Father is right by your side, equipping you to share it. If our testimony is an avenue for breakthrough in our lives and others’, then we cannot afford to remain still or silent. Sharing our testimony is important because it’s not only for us.

I’m not quite the runner I used to be but let me tell you when I am on a jog and see others around and before me, it hastens my stride and increases my endurance. Recounting the first words of Hebrews 12:1, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,” awakened me to the reality that my path and purpose didn’t only affect me. I wasn’t on this journey alone! You and I are in that same arena—surrounded by a great crowd of witnesses, including those who have gone before us and those who will follow. See, how you run your race will influence others.

The Bible ties believers together—both young and old, neighboring and foreign, new in faith and faithful for years—as one body. Our God-given purposes align to function together like conjoining bones and ligaments. Though important on their own, together they generate movement and power.

Individual breakthrough allows for collective benefit. Notice what Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.” The subject in this verse is they. They overcame through their testimony. Our testimonies affect and transform those around us. Daniel 4:2-3 reflects the truth that what was intended to break us becomes a priceless testimony showcasing God’s redemptive power.

Know that the accuser wants to steal the seed you’re called to plant, but we overcome what he seeks to steal by speaking the truth. My hope is that as you experience breakthrough and wholeness in Christ, you’ll be an advocate of hope through the message of your testimony, helping others break up with what broke them and avoid settling for halfway healing. The truth from your testimony, the words from your lips, have the power to harvest God’s miracles in another’s garden.

How are you running the race ahead of you? If you feel like you’re losing momentum or that your testimony is far gone, reset your gaze on Jesus—the author and perfector of faith. Each of us are precious in His sight. Prayer: Father, may I know in my heart and mind that this one life I have been given holds eternal value. Hasten my stride and sharpen my vision on you. In Jesus name, amen.
