Pray, Play, and Stay Togetherنموونە
Play and Intimacy
Many couples struggle with this part of their marriage. The intimacy is not as present and enjoyable as it was, or maybe it has never reached the place that you would like it to be. If you are praying together, being transparent, vulnerable, and dating; if you are executing the things that we discussed in day 1 and 2 of this plan, then you are right where you want to be…sexual intimacy, right? Here is where you focus on being “one flesh.” God sees sexual intimacy as a spiritual merger. Two people with the Holy Spirit, joining together and becoming one. Song of Solomon is a tremendous template of two people committed to being vocal, intentional, and locked into the goal of sexual intimacy and the chase. When you said I do, you said that you would be committed to each other in every way. Sexual intimacy is one of those ways, and you have a part to play!
Most couples “desired” each other either prior to or right after being married. What a gift! You don’t have to lose it! There is nothing to be shy about or ashamed of. This is your partner for life! Enjoy every aspect of each other and make it fun. God ordained it, so he is not ashamed of it, and you should not be ashamed either. Adam and Eve were not ashamed! Play to cultivate the intimacy, play during your intimacy, and keep the Holy Spirit in the process. Use the tools that you have gained from this plan to keep building your marriage. You can do this!
Here are a few more ways to incorporate more play into your intimacy:
Go dancing…at home! Put on a “slow jam.” It doesn’t matter how well you dance. Being close to each other is what sparks intimacy. If you don’t have a romantic song to dance to, find one and get close!
Plan a romantic picnic. Whether at home or in the park, an intimate picnic is a great way to get close and personal.Talk to each other about anything and everything and let the sparks fly!
Role Play. Get into your spouse’s favorite character. If you don’t have one, create it! Let your imagination create the ultimate connection.
