The Life We Live
We often live the life we feel we deserve. Leading our days with the regret and hurt that haunts us as we awaken in the morning and attempt to face the day. A smile and cheery wave distracts those nearest you and disguises your very persona. It is not until those moments, those weak, sly, cunning moments that we are tested and yet seem to fail every time. Blinded by assuming love will prevail and being shown again that sometimes love is not enough. Some contemplate and wonder: Why is failure so evident and why is hiding behind a smile so easy?
The double life is found abundantly in this solitude of a life we experience daily. Each individual soul living at least two lives. The version they show the world and the version that lurks within the depths of their very being and longs to be seen or heard by another wondering soul. Ecclesiastes so boldly states that two are better than one because they have good return for their work. So for the soul refusing to team up and insisting on traveling alone, this ultimately means doom. Failure. Contempt. Regret. Lust. Lies. Pain. A hurt so many years ago that still brings itself to vicious life in the forefront of one’s self-consciousness. Defeat. Utter, cold, dark, unnecessary, defeat.
