God affirms Solomon’s prayer and agrees with Solomon that when Israel disobeys God and suffers as a result, they can return to God and be forgiven. This is a promise given to Israel, but it is also given to us in 1 John 1:9. It is great to know that God has promised to forgive. Everyone sins, but if we recognize it, are sorry for it and genuinely want to change, our mistakes will not cause ongoing distance between us and God.
