The Role of the Fatherنموونە
FATHERS TEACH THEIR CHILDREN
Have you ever wondered why Jesus, who was Himself sinless, often sought His Father through prayer? Jesus is part of His Father, just as you and I are part of our earthly fathers. We know that God is Omnipotent and Omnipresent, but we also have to remember that Jesus came to earth in human form.
One might say that Jesus has a very tight relationship with His Father! God is an example of how earthly dads are to be with their children. We are ‘all’ made in the image of God. God ordained family life. He joined a male and a female together (Adam and Eve). They were the first set of parents.
When Moses was given the 10 Commandments, he was to pass them on to God’s chosen people, who were to teach them to their children and to all generations.
“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:6-9
“Train up a child in the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6 parents,
The above scriptures are instructions for parents, with the dad being the head of the home to instruct their children. Children need guidelines and discipline. Guidelines and rules help to shape the child into the right way of living. A loving father doesn’t leave a child to raise himself or to make decisions that they are not mature enough to make.
When a child has great respect for their dad, you will see that tight bond form. That child will respect the advice of his father and seek it often, just as Jesus did with his Heavenly Father.
CAN YOU RELATE? God couldn’t have painted a more perfect picture of how a child should love and respect their father, through the example set by Jesus. A parent is to not only pray for their child, but pray with their child. The younger they are the better and consistency is key. What a gift for both; time together with Father God!

About this Plan
Earthly fathers are to be examples before their children of the Heavenly Father. The role of the father helps shape generations to come! When Jesus was on the cross, He cried out Abba Father, which indicates a close intimacy with God, meaning, Father, I will obey You! Every day is Father’s Day! Let us learn to have that closeness with both our earthly and Heavenly Father!
