Making a Difference: A Bible Plan for Leaders in Kids’ Ministry

DAY 4 OF 5

You Are Who Jesus Says You Are

When you’re young, you may think of yourself in more concrete terms. You’re a football player, a gamer, or an artist. As you get older, though, your identity can get a little muddy, especially if you can no longer do the thing you once identified with so deeply. On the darker days, you may find yourself asking, “Who am I?”

When you don’t know who you are—or whose you are—you can easily grasp onto your accomplishments to make yourself feel good. When life is going well and things are looking up, you feel great. But what happens when you lose your job, get overlooked, or disappoint someone you care about?

Fortunately, Jesus doesn’t say you’re good on some days and bad on others. In Jesus, your value doesn’t come from what you do, but from who you are—from who He says you are. When you follow Jesus, you learn more of the truth He says about you. He says you are:

Loved. Amazing and wonderful. Strong and brave. Accepted, known, and seen. Chosen and victorious. A child of the living God, created in His image.

The world may make you feel unwanted. But the truth is that Jesus says you’re His friend. He chose you. He trusts you to share His Word—and He promises to be with you every step of the way.

The kids you’re leading are asking some version of the Who am I? question every day. They dream about what they’ll be when they grow up. They wonder if they’re good enough. You can help them see that they are who Jesus says they are. You can help them understand they can’t earn God’s love and acceptance. And you can help them know that God won’t change His mind about them.

This is where kids’ ministry gets real. This is when lives are changed and futures are altered—when kids know whose they are. This is why you’re here.

As you walk with Jesus, if you ever feel unsure about who you are, talk to Him about it. Ask Him to reveal what’s true about you. He’ll help you remember:

You are who Jesus says you are.

Pray This: Lord, thank You for reminding me that I am Yours. And in You, I am loved, accepted, seen, strong, and victorious. Help me to remind others that they are more than their accomplishments—they are who You say they are. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Do This: Which of the true things Jesus says about you is easiest for you to believe? Which is the hardest? Share your thoughts with a mentor or close friend.
