Where Was God During My Trials?نموونە
Day One | What Question are you REALLY asking?
I believe it’s important to address the question "Where was God during my trials?" in a practical and biblical way. Most often, the real question behind "Where was God during my trials?" is "Why did this happen to me?"
In my field of work, people have asked me variations of this question, and unfortunately, I don't always know how to respond. Some people are used to hearing that there are people in the world who hurt others because someone has hurt them. However, attempting to explain, rationalize, or justify why bad things happen doesn't actually solve the root issue. The person asking this question feels impacted by the experience and wants the pain to be acknowledged.
In the past, when you faced trials, you may have questioned or doubted God's presence in your life. However, I believe God has a way of taking our trials and challenges and rewriting our narratives to strengthen us and help others who are going through similar struggles. Today, seek to understand how God allows us to use our experiences to grow and serve others (1 Peter 4:10).
Remember, even in our darkest moments, God is always with us. In Psalm 23:4, it says, "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Romans 8:28 reminds us that "in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." This means that even amid our trials, God can use them for our good, His glory, and to fulfill His plans for us.
Remember, you do not have to be defined by the adversity you face in your life. Instead, you can take those experiences and use them as steppingstones to become the person God has predestined you to be. So, the question you should really ask is "How can I heal from this experience and use what I’ve learned to grow and serve others well?"
As you turn to God and seek His guidance and wisdom, you can find purpose and meaning even during your struggles. If you are currently going through a difficult time, I encourage you to turn to God in prayer for comfort and guidance. Also, seek support from someone who specializes in the area/s you are looking to grow in.
Journal Reflection:
How can I heal from this experience? How can I use this experience to help or serve others well?
