Wife Study Challenge: A Plan for Husbandsنموونە
Day 4 Challenge: Simple Task Study
God cares about the mundane. He wants us to do everything we do as if it was worship to him. In Colossians 3:23 we are told to work “heartily” at everything we do as if working for the Lord and not for whoever the work is temporarily for. It’s not surprising to me that God cares about the mundane because he cares about us, and the majority of our life we live in the mundane.
In our house lives a little artist, my daughter. She is obsessed with creating. She crafts, draws, and paints almost every day, multiple times a day. Our house is filled with piles of her crafts. Seeing our sweet little artist making a craft for the umpteenth time is not extraordinary; it’s quite commonplace in our home. However, I love watching her craft. I love watching the way her mind works as she curates an idea in her head and how she engineers how to bring that idea to life with the tools laid before her.
I’ve learned so much about her by watching her craft. I’ve learned that she doesn’t like to get messy, so she often is washing her hands multiple times when working with glue or paint. I’ve learned that she prefers recycled materials over new materials (the environment and our budget thanks her!). I’ve learned that for her art, it usually involves a story that she has made up and that 90% of the time that story involves a cat. I could go on.
When we take time to stop and watch someone in the mundane, we learn things about them that we likely didn’t already know. Things that impress upon us how uniquely God created each of us, and how pieces of his image are reflected in the created things (Romans 11:36). Today your challenge is to observe your wife in the mundane. Because God cares about the mundane, we can too.
Challenge: Study the way your wife does a simple task. Something simple like a chore around the house or how she gets ready in the morning. Find one thing to cherish about her in something mundane she does. Take the time to appreciate her today in normal everyday life.
Prayer Challenge: Pray and thank God for her and the new way you’ve found to cherish her. Thank God for mundane moments with the bride he has given you.
